The James Franklin and Elvira Tennessee (Perry) Stickney Family Bible

In 2019, I acquired the James Franklin and Elvira T. (Perry) family bible, a family heirloom that had been stored in an attic for several years, protected from dampness by the dry West Texas climate. Despite this safeguard, the Bible bears the marks of time, with a worn cover and loose pages, particularly the family record section. William Stickney the Immigrant

The commonly accepted birth information of the English immigrant William Stickney is questioned due to lack of genealogical proof. The popular account comes from Matthew Adams Stickney, but even he noted that the information was “inferred.” Another account by Emily Stickney Spencer presents a detailed line of descent, but fails to provide concrete evidence. It is suggested that further research in Cottingham, Yorkshire may provide substantial answers. Continue reading
